Pickups by Brand / Ron Ellis

There are no shortcuts or compromises; each pickup is carefully checked before it moves on to the next build step. The various parts are custom-made and manufactured to Ron’s vintage correct specifications.

This process involves extra component expense, manual labor and production cost, but it is the only way to achieve authentic vintage sound. Ron Ellis Pickups are made exactly as they were made in the ‘50s and ‘60s.

Ron Ellis Pickups

Ron Ellis Pickups reflect Ron's lifelong passion for music and guitars, nurtured by his upbringing in the '60s and '70s Bay Area music scene. His quest for the vintage guitar sound began in 2004, sparked by a transformative encounter with a 1950 Fender Broadcaster.

With over 35 years of engineering experience, Ron reverse-engineered the pickups of vintage guitars. The pickups are carefully handmade and assembled in Carlsbad, California by this small team of music aficionados who care deeply about the products which they produce. They are made to the same exacting standards as Ron first developed back in his small shop.

Ron Ellis Pickups' collaboration with Collings Guitars and endorsements from artists like Bill Frisell, Julian Lage, and Jedd Hughes speak volumes about the exceptional quality and sound of their pickups.

It's very likely that once you install your first set of Ron Ellis Pickups, you'll become a customer for life.
